How to make your school year calendar
- Choose the start month. August 2026 gives August 2026 to July 2027; September 2026 gives September 2026 to August 2027. Both are 12 months.
- Choose the holidays. US federal holidays, UK bank holidays for England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, or none.
- Choose a layout. The whole school year on one page, two pages of six months, or 12 monthly pages with large boxes for homework, clubs and events.
- Write in your term dates. The one-page and two-page layouts have ruled lines headed Term dates and school holidays. Monthly pages can have a notes area.
- Select Download PDF and print at Actual size (100%). Nothing is uploaded, and your entries are not saved or sent.
Why your term dates are not printed
There is no single school calendar for a country. In the US, Pew Research Center reports that "Individual districts set their own calendars" within each state's rules. In England and Wales, GOV.UK sends parents to their local council:
Find your child’s school term, half term and holiday dates on your local council’s website.GOV.UK, School term and holiday dates
Academies and private schools can set their own dates too, and Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own arrangements. A printed calendar that guessed the dates would be wrong for most families, so this one prints only official public holidays and leaves the term dates to you. Copy them from your school's website or letter.
Many US states set a minimum length for the school year; Pew found that most of the 38 states with a minimum, along with D.C., "mandate 180 instructional days".

From August 2026 to July 2027 these federal holidays are shaded, on the day each is observed. Schools do not have to close on every federal holiday, and many add their own breaks, so check your district calendar.

UK bank holidays in the 2026-2027 school year
From September 2026 to August 2027, England and Wales have these bank holidays (GOV.UK). Scotland and Northern Ireland differ, so choose your nation on the calendar.
| Date | Bank holiday |
|---|---|
| Friday, December 25, 2026 | Christmas Day |
| Monday, December 28, 2026 | Boxing Day (substitute day) |
| Friday, January 1, 2027 | New Year's Day |

| Monday, May 3, 2027 | Early May bank holiday |

| Monday, August 30, 2027 | Summer bank holiday |
Scotland has St Andrew's Day (Monday, November 30, 2026) and 2nd January (substitute day, Monday, January 4, 2027), its summer bank holiday on Monday, August 2, 2027, and no Easter Monday. Northern Ireland adds St Patrick's Day (Wednesday, March 17, 2027) and the Battle of the Boyne (Monday, July 12, 2027).
Paper size and printing
Letter is the usual size for US schools and A4 for UK schools; Legal, Tabloid, Half Letter, A3 and A5 are there too, in portrait or landscape. Every size keeps margins of at least half an inch (12.7 mm). In the print dialog, choose the same paper and set Scale to 100% or Actual size.
A one-page school year on Tabloid or A3 makes a classroom wall planner. Half Letter or A5 fits inside a student planner.
Questions and answers
Does the school year calendar include my school's term dates?
No. Term dates are set by each school district in the US and by local councils or the schools themselves in the UK, so the calendar leaves ruled lines for you to write them in. It prints official public holidays only.
Can it start in August?
Yes. Choose August 2026 to print August 2026 to July 2027, or September 2026 to print September 2026 to August 2027.
Which holidays are shown?
Either the US federal holidays, on the day each is observed, or UK bank holidays for England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland from GOV.UK. You can also choose none.
Is Juneteenth in the 2026-2027 school year?
Yes, for a school year that runs to July 2027. Juneteenth, June 19, 2027, is a Saturday, so the federal holiday is observed on Friday, June 18, 2027.
Can I print one month per page?
Yes. Choose 12 monthly pages for large boxes to write in, with an optional notes area at the foot of each page.
Is my calendar saved or uploaded anywhere?
No. The calendar and the PDF are made in your browser on your own device. Your options and title are not saved or sent.
